Protective Treatments

Prevention is better than cure. This is a well-known adage. But sometimes due to various reasons we injure ourselves or cause pain to some parts of the body. Our Protective treatments involve methods to protect the musculoskeletal, neuromuscular systems from damage.

Our Protective treatments are planned for reducing inflammation, pain management, posture related problems and educating patients on disease and injury prevention.

Protective Treatments

Moist Heat Therapy

heading

The most recommended treatment for healing damaged tissue and reducing pain, Moist Heat Therapy is widely used by physiotherapists. Applying heat superficially to the affected area using hydrocollator packs, dilates the blood vessels and increases blood circulation. This further nourishes the tissues to accelerate the healing process. This method is used for reducing pain and also in treating muscle spasms.

Protective Treatments

Cold Therapy

heading

As opposed to moist heat therapy, cold therapy decreases blood circulation to the tissues. This prevents inflammation and superficial bleeding of tissues. It is generally used for ligament sprains, muscle strain and pain relief post surgery/injury. Both heat and cold therapies are non-invasive and non-addictive pain relief therapies. Cold therapy is generally used for new injuries as they will reduce inflammation whereas heat therapy is used for recurring injuries to increase blood circulation and promote healing.

Posture Assessment

heading

We often don’t pay attention to our postures while going on about our daily routines. Poor postures generally lead to numerous aches and pain in our bodies. Prolonged poor posture will lead to the weakening of muscles and even degeneration. It becomes essential to check our postures and correct them before it leads to other problems.

By seeking the advice and treatment of our physiotherapists in the management of postural conditions, patients can experience significant improvements in their pain and functional capacity and prevent recurrence of the problem.

Many musculoskeletal disorders are caused due to sustained unnatural postures. Especially for people at work, sitting in bad postures while working with computers, may lead to back pain, wrist pain, headaches etc.

These disorders can interfere with daily activities and cause disabling pain. It is, therefore, essential to pay attention to postures that are assumed. Consult our physiotherapists for ergonomic consulting to prevent repetitive strain injuries in office.
